By Aijah H.

Recently I read The Selection by Kiera Cass. The Selection is the first book in her Selection series. The Selection is a prestigious competition for the Prince of Illéa. Prince Maxon is the heartthrob of Illéa, loved by all. Except for America. In their world, everyone lives in an eight-level caste system. The Royal family is at the top, and the lowest level being workers. America loves her life in the fifth level and wishes to stay with her secret love Aspen. Forced to put her name into the drawing for the Selection, America now has to compete for the Prince's love, but only wants to stay in for the money they pay her poor family. Was The Girl Stolen?

By K J R.
The book I read was called Girl Stolen and it was written by April Henry. April has recently wrote a second book for Girl Stolen, called: Count All Her Bones, she has also written other books. The genre of the book Girl Stolen is young adult fiction, so I definitely wouldn't recommend this to children. The book Girl Stolen is about a girl named Cheyenne Wilder who is sixteen years old and is blind. She basically gets kidnapped, but she wasn't supposed to be, you see, it was a mistake, the man who "kidnapped" her wasn't trying to get her, he only wanted the car.

The True Story of a Douchebag

By Isabelle S.

The burn journals is actually a true story written by Brent Runyon. Brent was just a kid when this all happened, so the book makes it sound like a teenage boy is actually telling the story, which is kind of aggravating because teenage boys are so annoying and like to complain a lot about how their life is no fair.I thought at first this was going to be a good read because it was based of a true event, but I guess I was wrong.

Loser book report

By Harrison D.

The book loser is a story of a boy named Donald Zinkoff, He is often called names like loser by his classmates for his Clumsiness, and his lack of athletic and school performance. As the weeks go on Zinkoff slowly makes his way to the bottom of the stairs and conquers his fear of the "Furnace Monster."

The Midnighter Series Strikes Again

By Nathan T.
The Midnighters: Blue Noon by Scott Westerfeld is the third book in the Midnighters series. This book is about a new phenomenon about the bluetime, which is not in the lore. When our protagonists are trying to solve this Rex is trying to deal with his hybrid self. It all starts when the bluetime emerged in the morning, 14 hours before midnight. Usually the blue time, an extra hour in the day where only monsters and our heros lurk, is only supposed to come at midnight. Also, the rips or untimely bluetime are shorter than the one at midnight, and there are random. However they are not not predictable.

Original Fake: completely original

By Christopher O.
You know when you see a movie that you don't know whether your going to like. You find it's interesting from the preview to the sneak peaks but you can't decide what it's about. You've never seen a movie quite like this before and you don't know whether it'll do bad or not. It goes in to bizzare concepts that sometimes you relate to and sometimes you don't. And when you finish watching it, you don't know exactly what it was trying to say, but that it does it well. Your glad that you saw a good movie with good acting and directing, but it's the story you could take or leave.

She Can See it in Your Eyes

By Sarah W.
When Rachel Ward wrote an award-winning short story, she did not expect it to turn into her award winning book, "Numbers." The brilliant story about a girl haunted by numbers, and a trouble maker trying to find a friend, is new to the world of literature. The trilogy, which includes The Chaos and Infinity has already sold more than half a million copies.

Surviving the Wrath of the Red Planet

By: Aiden D.
Entertainment Weekly said " this book is riveting… Cast Away meets Apollo 13." They described The Martian absolutely perfectly. It was so much fun to read and was really exciting. Andy Weir wrote this book to show the challenges of a man who had been stuck on Mars and what he was forced to do with no one else by his side. It was suspenseful and overall, a terrific book.

The Midnighters; touching darkness

By Nathan T.
The Midnighters; Touching Darkness, by Scott Westerfeld, is an action, science fiction novel with a hint of drama. Like the first book the five protagonists are Jessica, Rex, Jonathan, Melissa, and Desdemona. In this book of midnighters; the five uncover darkling mysteries and secrets as well as more midnighter history. As the story progresses so does the relationships between some of the midnights, something we did not see much of in the previous book. Even though there is some "romance", Westerfield does not hesitate to start up the action; with the first full fledged fight with the darklings in chapter 4.

Trapped in the Jar

By Keisha N.
For our book review, I read the book The Bell Jar which was written by Sylvia Plath. She is also the author of Ariel, The Collected Poems, Crossing the Water and and more, that's just a few book she's written. The genera of this novel is Roman à clef meaning it's real people and events that happen but with fake or other names used instead. The Bell Jar was first published under the fake name "Victoria Lucas" in 1963 and it's a  semi-autobiographical, with different names of the places and people in the book. The story starts off in the year is 1953. Esther Greenwood is a college student in Massachusetts who has just finished her year there and she has won a paid internship at Ladies Day magazine in New York City for a whole month along with eleven other college students. Jay Cee is her manager there and has high expectations for Esther. For the month in NY, Esther makes a good friend who's name is Doreen and is kind of a slacker. Her boyfriend's name is Buddy Willard. He's a Yale medical student and doesn't care for poetry and writing like Esther does. Working for Ladies Day should be the best and most exciting experience for Esther but she actually feels numb to it all. She's not sure what to do with her life after college.

Bull

By Aijah H.
Uniquely written and skillfully worded, Bull by David Elliott is a great find. This book tells the story of the Minotaur, a greek mythical creature. From his birth to his death, Bull shows the Minotaur's thoughts as well as those around him. The first section titled "Book 1", focuses on Poseidon, God of the Sea, and Pasiphae, Queen of  Crete and wife of Minos. They have an affair as Poseidon does with many women in similar myths. Minos finds out and in a fit of rage curses Poseidon and the sea. Poseidon retaliates by cursing Pasiphae's unborn child to be half bull. She names her child Asterion, but Minos and the kingdom call him the Minotaur leading Minos to hide the child's true parentage from the public. Treated as an animal, he is locked in a labyrinth made by Daedalus, the Royal Engineer. Not until after Asterion is locked away, does his half sister Ariadne find out they're related. Minos, fearing the public will find out about his connection with Asterion, sends in Theseus, a warrior and heir to the Athens throne, to slay Asterion.

The User Boyfriend

By Aaliyah O.
The Fill-in Boyfriend Boyfriend is an amazing book for teens. Not because many teens can relate to it but because it's about a teen girl going through a confusing break up. Gia is a senior in highschool. When she is in the parking lot about to enter prom her college boyfriend Bradley dumps her. She right away feels embarrassed to first walk into prom alone but to face her mean group of friends with no one by her side. Ask Me

By Isabelle S.

This is the  best book I have ever read. "Ask me" written by Kimberly Pauley  makes you invested in this book more and more every single page.Kimberly Pauley grabbed my attention during the first sentence, it didn't start off like every other book with some stupid conversation or the characters telling the reader how awful their life is,ask me started off as a diary or journal entry of the psychopath who made everyone's life a living hell.

Freak? Boy

Freak? Boy

By K J Relation

I read the book called Freakboy, By: Kristin Elizabeth Clark.  The book was about a boy named Brendan, who is starting to think that he should've been born a female. He often finds himself jealous of things that females get to have, for example; their long hair, soft skin, and dresses.
Freakboy's genre is Young Adult Fiction. The author has also written: Jess, Chunk, and the Road Trip to Infinity. I plan on reading that book next. The way the author wrote Freakboy was in verses, almost like poetry. I really enjoyed reading it, it was fun to read.
With this author's novels, they have helped trans, and cis people. For many she has changed their lives, for the better. She is also the founder of the Ocean Beach Poets Society. She is also an advocate for human kindness, and from what I've heard she tries to stay off social media.
I don't have anything negative to say about this book. I enjoyed it a lot, it made me think a lot too, not so much about me, but about the struggles that these types of kids go through. It just really puts a different perspective on things, I have never truly seen a book like this, so it was really interesting.
Altogether I think everyone should read this book, simply because it makes someone think. If you read this book I cannot guarantee you'll love, but I would guarantee it might make you think more. So DEFINITELY read this book!
