The Maze Jogger

By Hayleigh F.
"The Scorch Trials" is the second book in The Maze Runner Series, written by James Dashner. The other books included in this series are "The Maze Runner", "The Death Cure", "The Kill Order", and "The Fever Code". This book is an amazing science fiction novel that includes a lot of action and events that leave you wanting to read more.

As previously stated, this book is the second in the series, so this is the second phase or trial being conducted by WICKED. WICKED is the organization responsible for making these trials and responsible for everything that occurs inside of them. In "The Scorch Trials", the main character Thomas, along with his Glader friends, are forced to fight for their lives against starvation, Cranks, fatal weather conditions, and many more obstacles that are thrown in their way. Everyday is a new battle for Thomas and his friends and Thomas begins to question everything, and everyone, around him.
"The Scorch Trials" was a very interesting book to read and always kept me at the edge of my seat while reading it. Whether it was fighting off Cranks or questioning the reason behind WICKED's plans, I was always left wanting more. Although there is a lot of action and thrilling events, I feel like there are a lot of unanswered questions that could have been further explained in the novel. I also disliked some of the characters, such as Teresa and Aris, because the author portrayed them as selfish in my opinion.
Although some parts just didn't work for me, "The Scorch Trials" was overall a very good book and I would recommend reading it because it was very exhilarating to read. There was not a moment of boredom while reading the novel. I was always engaged in what was happening and I believe it was a worthy read. Also, if you read 'The Maze Runner", you should definitely read this book because it will clear up any questions you had while reading the first book and you will continue reading about the journey of the Gladers.
