                                                                     Shakespeare
                                                              By Emily G.

Shakespeare wrote many books, plays, and poems and is a fantastic writer. He is most known for his Play Romeo and Juliet a tragic play.  He wrote the famous "Romeo and Juliet." Shakespeare also wrote the play "Hamlet" He has acted in a lot of his own plays. William wrote a lot of famous and interesting plays. also wrote 17 comedies including  "A Midsummer Night's Dream."  It is also believed that he is not an actual person. Nobody knows what Shakespeare did between 1585 and 1592. People believed that Shakespeare disappeared in between that time. Even early in his career, Shakespeare was spinning tales that displayed in-depth knowledge of international affairs, European capitals and history, as well as familiarity with the royal court and high society. For this reason, some theorists have suggested that one or several authors wishing to conceal their true identity used the person of William Shakespeare as a front. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to know about Shakespeare and all the troubles of his life.

In Love with this Book

By Upasana I.

Volume III: Princess in Love by Meg Cabot is the third book in the Princess Diaries series and is one of the best I've read. The plotline was original to start with and this book brings in a romantic angle, giving the book's protagonist a chance at true love. The next few books in this series include Volume IV: Princess in Waiting and Volume V: Princess in Pink.

Zen in The Art of Writing

Zen in The Art of Writing
By Nick I.

In this essay i will be reviewing the book Zen in The Art of Writing by one of the most creative, talented writers Ray Bradbury. Ray has also written some of the most famous books like The Martian Chronicles or The Illustrated Men. These are two of the best books i have ever read. In this novel, he shares his love and dedication to the art of writing, all packed into one great story. I picked this book out hoping to learn new rules and structures to help me with my writing. Not knowing it was more of a memoir of how his writing has developed over the years and what he has done to help himself in the long run.

Stephen King is mainly a horror writer. In the biography about him by Amy Keyishian and Marjorie Keyishian they talk about each of kings books individually and explain what he was thinking while he was writing them and what each book or story means to him in his life. This is a well written biography and it gives a lot of detail about his life and his books. It makes you understand King better and also helps with the understanding of the stories. Although  most are creepy and frightening in this biography you understand how each of his books have a meaning to him and most are taken from his life experiences.this book is very helpful in getting into the life of Stephen King and shows how he reasons all of his books. I would recommend this biography to anyone who is interested in Stephen King and want to better understand his reasoning for

The Rhythm of Storytelling

By Philip M.
Bill Wegner, in his book Dare to be Holy, tells his story of his conversion.  This is not a conversion from one faith to another or one political party to another; it is his conversion from one destructive unfulfilled personality to a faithful, godly, and righteous personality.  This biographical book tells a great story of a regular man daring to be holy.

This book review has a boring title

By Pat U.
When Ellen Hopkins wrote Cranked I do not think that she was expecting the results that she got. Many people were offended and challenged the book due to its contents. I disagree with there problems with the book but we will talk about that later. I think that the author did a good job of telling a believable story about teenagers and drugs without sugar coating it for readers, which happens with many books written these days. The story had good character development and wasn’t boring it made me want to continue to read.

Writing a Catchy Essay!

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on. And Electra Brown learns a lot about life in the book "Life at the Shallow End" by Helen bailey. I think think that this book is more for like 13 and 14 year olds, it's a young adult fiction. It's all about Electra Brown.

The Eye Opening, Before I Fall

By Kaila T.

The book Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver is extremely eye opening for the reader. In the story there is four friends named Samantha, Ally, Lindsey, and Elody. Samantha spent most of her school years being average, and often not noticed. Samantha's life changes drastically during seventh grade when she was finally noticed. The "it" girl Lindsey had taken interest in Samantha and took her under her wing. Lindsey was one of the most popular girls in the school, and was someone who did whatever they pleased. The whole story takes place in one day which is extremely important to the girls. The day is Cupids Day which is when the school celebrates Valentine's Day, and roses are handed out to the most popular students. When the roses are handed out a written note is attached to the rose. Since the four friends are extremely popular there is no doubt they will be receiving roses, but it's not so easy for the less popular students. A key character in the story is Lindsey's ex childhood friend Juliet Syke's. Juliet holds a secret of Lindsey's past which makes her Lindsey's number one target. Throughout the book you see how the characters develop and how they realize their wrong doings. As the characters grow, you will find yourself growing with them.

“Show me a hero, and I’ll write you a tragedy.”

By Makayla F.

The many famous words "novels are not written, or at least begun with the idea of making and ultimate philosophical system," we're spoken by Escott Fitzgerald, the author of the popular novel, The Great Gatsby. In the biography by Rose Adrienne Gallo she informs readers how Fitzgerald became successful. He was born in 1896 and to this day he is known as one of the greatest writers.

Life of Intrigue

By Pranav P.

Life of Pi is a novel told in the first person point of view by the main character, Piscine "Pi" Patel.  The book is written by Yann Martel.  The fantasy novel is about the story Pi (many years after the incident)  recalls about his childhood of when Pi and his family have to move their zoo from their home in Pondicherry, India, to North America.  Their journey by boat got interrupted by a storm at sea that caused the boat to capsize.  Pi, an orangutang, an injured zebra, and a hyena and a tiger who was named Richard Parker, were lost at sea on a small life boat.  The story is about his struggles to get food, water, and live with these animals on such a small boat. After Pi drifts to mexico, he is questioned by two people from the Japanese Ministry of Transport (The ship was Japanese)  about the shipwreck.  The officials did not believe his story, so he tells them an alternate story where the animals were replaced with people, to make the story more believable.  It is then left to the reader of the story to imagine which story they think is real.

An insight into the mind of a brilliant author

By Partha P.
Inside George Orwell is a biography on the famous author, George Orwell. It shed some light on Orwell's personal life and childhood.  The author of the biography, Gordon Bowker, did an excellent job writing this book. It takes you through the life of a brilliant, yet flawed man. With information from his sex life to his dealings with odder things life black magic. You learn about his first marriage, and then his second to a woman who is fifteen years younger than him. His actual name is Eric Arthur Blair, and although he published minor articles under the name E.A. Blair, his famous pen name is George Orwell. He was born 25 June 1903, but George Orwell was born January 1933. Orwell, like authors similar to Charles Dickens, used fiction for what he considered social injustice. Interestingly, he was not born in Britain, but instead in Motihari, India. He died at the young age of 46, on 21 January 1950. He was a brilliant author whose works always question the world around you.

If The Authors Had Thought Up A Better Title

By  Jean C.

If The Allies Had Fallen, edited by Dennis Showalter and Harold Deutsch, is a collection of essays exploring various ways that World War Two could have differed from how history actually played out. The book reads like a history text book; dull at some points, page turning the next. Don't mistake this change in pace for an offsetter. Rather, the book's variance allows the reader to take their time, stopping to read other books or simply manage their daily life.

Empower Your Writing.

By Brianna D.

The book that I read this month was Keys to Great Writing by Stephen Wilbers. It is a non fiction novel that revolves around bettering your writing by using different techniques. This is only one of two writing novels that Wilbers has written with the newest one being under the name Mastering the craft of writing. He has also, written two novels focusing on boundary waters named A Boundary Waters History: Canoeing Across Time and the other Canoeing the Boundary: Waters Wilderness. During Keys to Great Writing Wilbers first touches on the two styles that one can write by, surface style and deep style. Surface style is writing with technique which may be perfected by  research and practice. Deep style on the other hand has to do with yourself only and is perfected over time. Wilbers also, discuss the five elements of writing which are economy, precision, action, music, and personality. Then, focuses on the five elements of composition which include purpose, point of view, organization, support, and coherence. Then lastly, touches on the writing process and how to create checklists for when revising and making drafts.

Geometry has never been so much fun

By Julia L.

Though I am familiar with Brandon Sanderson's adult books, such as Mistborn and The Way of Kings, I have read fewer of his YA books. It was an overall pleasant experience to read the first book in his newest YA Fantasy series, The Rithmatist. This book is about Joel, a boy who attends a top-class school on the island of New Brittania. He is obsessed with Rithmatics, a magic-system based off of chalk drawings and geometry. One in a thousand people are chosen by the Master to be a Rithmatist and fight creatures called wild chalklings in the island of Nebrask.

Ride the Wave of Writing

           By Sarah K.
Writing the Wave, by Elizabeth Ayres is a very informative book for aspiring writers. The book is filled with helpful tips and guidelines very useful for anyone struggling with putting words together. It is split into three sections, with four chapters to a section. The first part is more general, beginning stuff you need to deal with before writing. Ayres talks about getting over the initial fear of writing and just putting things down on the paper. Then she gives you guides to ways you can create information out of nothing, and control that information to create the main plot for your story. The second part is more structural. She discusses organizing an outline, and how you use that to put together a beginning, middle, and end. The last part of the book is about spicing up the writing. She teaches about putting passion into all parts of it, and how you must use all the senses to make your work seem real. Finally she goes into how you can get inspired for a new project after you have finished one.

Some basic background information about Bauer is that she is an excellent author who can have the exact viewpoint of a child and turn it into creative writing pieces.
