Lockdown:Escape From a Bad Review

By:Austin K.

This book is a very interesting fiction that takes place in a prison built for children who need to be taught not to do things that are illegal. But one 14 year old kid named Alex was a thief. Alex and his best friend named Toby went on a job. They looked throughout the whole house for something valuable. But as Alex is upstairs, he hears Toby screaming. From behind the door, a man in a black suit and a gas mask caught Alex, and he figured out that the house was just a trap to catch them. But the men in the black suits and gas masks killed Toby to frame Alex so that they have a reason to bring Alex into the prison, A.K.A, The Furnace.

This Killer Dog Makes For a Killer Story

By Zach M
The book Cujo, written by Stephen King, is about a family St. Bernard named Cujo. Cujo, a naturally nice dog, is bit by a rabid bat and which in turn leads him to become rabid. A mother and son, Donna and Tad, get trapped by Cujo when their car breaks down. The book is really intense, at certain parts more than others, and has a really interesting conflict that includes Donna having an affair. Just like any other book from King, it's a real thriller. From the first page to the last I was constantly engaged with the story. Although all the books Stephen King has written are horror novels, and all of them are exceptionally good, Cujo stands out. I don't know what about it makes the book stand out, maybe the way the story way told, being told through the eyes of Cujo's owners, the Chambers. It was also narrated by the Trentons, and even through the eyes of Cujo. Maybe what else makes Cujo stand out is the actual story. Taking a viral disease and expanding off of it making it seem way more scary than rabies really is.

Sticky Situations

By: Owen D
Carl Hiaasen is the author of many books based on saving animals and protecting and respecting the Earth, but by far, his finest work is a novel about two kids' adventures to save their least favorite biology teacher, who has gone missing. Scat is the fictional story of Nick and Marta, who are not only best friends but also two of Mrs. Bunny Starch's students as well. They go on a field trip into the Black Vine Swamp in hope of seeing some native wildlife in their natural habitats, and maybe a glimpse of the elusive Floridian panther, but have to be escorted out at once when a wildfire erupts in the area. When Libby, another student on the field trip, announces that she forgot her inhaler in the swamp, Mrs. Starch heroically delves back into the swamp to retrieve it, but never makes it back out. Dr. Dressler, the headmaster at Truman School, declares that Mrs. Starch is on a family emergency leave of absence.

Give Me Your Lunch Money

By: Owen D
Andrew Clements, author of the million copy best-seller, Frindle, has done it again and came out with another realistic fiction book that is just as entertaining as it is interesting. The book, Lunch Money, focuses on eleven year old Greg Kenton, a child with a true understanding and obsession of money. Greg sees money wherever he goes, which is a talent that has led him to open his first savings account with over three thousand two hundred dollars, which is not including the couple hundred dollars of spending money he left at home.

Take the chance will ya?

Ship Breaker
By Kalea H.

A novel by Paolo Bacigalupi, ship breaker is one tough and dirty book. (Dirty as in working, not the other type of dirty, I know what you're thinking) Pertaining characters around high school age it reflects any teens attutied, along with some parents and others who aren't really nice per say. It goes to show the readers that playing smart, using your head, and having a bit of luck can go a long way in an action packed novel.

The Walking Dead?

By Kalea H.

Carrie Ryan an author with a twist in writing books, based around an apocalyptic setting full of danger and romance. A young girl trapped in a dystopian/utopian setting in the forest of hands and teeth is put through trials to prove her worth. Categorizing this novel as mainly an adventure type, it holds many questions and ponderings as you read along. Think of it as a walking dead style, the mysteries, secrets, couples that blossom, then fall apart. It's all there written in a way that's captivating with the first word.

She sure has all the gifts (but this review lacks all the parts)

    By Sarah P.
The Girl With all the Gifts by M.R. Carey is a utopian and dystopian fiction novel that's a good read but a little bit too much in my opinion. Although I believe it's too much, I would recommend it to others. Other books written by M.R. Casey include The Steel Seraglio, Fellside, and The Gift, along with many more.

TRUE GRIT Review

By Melissa C.
Charles Portis the author of the western action novel first published in 1968 "True Grit" and several other books; Gringos, Norwood and the Dog of the South also the inspiration for the film "True Grit" did an extravagant job in forming a beautiful piece of work. True Grit and Carrie have something very important in common. They both have the same theme, revenge. Drugs & alcohol, murder and violence all play a huge part in this story, even though revenge is throughout this whole story and play a much bigger role than all the other ones in this story.

SLAUGHTER HOUSE FIVE Book Review

By Melissa C
This literary fiction story written by Kurt Vonnegut who is the author of many other books such as Cat's Cradle, Mother Night and the Sirens of Titans. Takes place in world war two and is not only riveting but very thrilling, exploring the deep thought and horror that brought many to death in that era or "so it goes". had me on the edge of my seat. This novel is believed to be an autobiography but many say it is only partially and the rest are just based off of memory of his he had being in world war two. This tale is very intriguing.

CARRIE, Review

By Melissa C.
I have previously read this book as a child, but I found myself eager to pick it up and start tearing away at the pages once more. Carrie by Stephen King is a famous and well written story that has many teens and adults captivated in the whirlpool of the Horror genre. This revenge tale may seem very predictable, yet when you continue to read, you become lost in the riveting scenes and shocking twist that this story contains.
