As a star fighter in the gritty underground Mixed Martial Arts circuit in the poorest section of Detroit, McCutcheon fights under the tutelage of his volatile and violent father, not so much for himself but to survive as protector of his beloved five-year old sister, Gemma. We get to know McCutcheon as he battles opponents who are literally trying to kill him. Mr. Freedman, his science teacher, spots his intellectual potential, befriends him, and encourages him to enter the lottery for a scholarship to an elite charter school so he can obtain a first-class education. He is at first dead-set against the idea, and of course his tyrannical father forbids it. But the school's headmaster, Kaitlyn, a student assigned to be his guide, a

Patrick or "Nothing" is a Senior in Charlie's Freshman Woodshop class. His sister Sam is an outcast. What Happens After?

By Kevin F.
After by Francine Prose is a realistic fiction about the aftermath of a school shooting and how it affected the neighboring school. Many people at Central High were shaken after their neighboring school, Pleasant Valley, had many victims to a school shooting incident. Many people worried that since it happened so close, it could happen to them. After a few days man named Dr. Willner comes in and basically changes the school overnight. Tom Bishop and his friends watch as Dr. Willner imposes crazy new ideas and rules such as extensive security coming into the school, no phones, a dress code, no certain books, or music, and even not allowing anyone to hang out at the mall. Dr. Willner is convincing the parents all of this is necessary saying that you can never be too safe. Students are afraid to step out of line, but Tom and his friends laugh it off. That is until students begin to disappear. Tom learns that if students don't follow these rules the consequences are severe. Tom and other students gain a strong sense of rebellion and want to fight against Dr. Willner.

Fragmented -- Paragraphs? Critical Assessment? Weak sauce.

By Someone Who Did Not Supply a Byline

Fragments is the second book in the Partials series, and it only gets worse. The basic plot of the story is the main character meets this guy named Afa, who is mentally insane. Then she needs to find the cure for the expiration date that partials have. Then Kira and her friends travel through a toxic wasteland, and in doing so Afa dies. Eventually they get there and accomplish nothing. This entire book was pointless to the story. The only thing that happened was Kira got captured at the very end. I do not recommend this book to anyone.

Troy, Besieged By Greeks

By Noah M.

The book Troy by Adèle Geras, takes place ten years into the Trojan War. Two sisters, Xanthe and Marpessa live in the city of Troy, which is attacked by the Greek army. The gods decided the outcome of the war. The Goddess Aphrodite, who started it all when she promised Paris the love of the most beautiful woman in the world, got tired of the war so she started paying attention to Xanthe and Marpessa. When Aphrodite's son Eros (the God of Love) aimed his love arrow, the sisters could escape its power. They both fell in love with Alastor, a fallen soldier. The reason why Alastor was known as a fallen soldier because he went to war. He was defeated by an opposing soldier and met Ares, the God of War. Ares told him that he was not dead or going to die. Later, Alastor woke up in the blood room with the sisters.

The Ugly Life of Cadavers

By Kevin S.
The author Mary Roach made this book completely weird but it was really interesting. She made the book weird by talking about dead people and how they are floppy and etc. This author is really weird and I am not thinking of reading another of her books again.

A Certain Justice With A Certain Story

By Someone Who Did Not Provide a Byline
I picked up A Certain Justice from the Free section of the library back in early November, 2016. It looked somewhat interesting, and so I took it. This is the tenth book of the Adam Dalgliesh series, a character made by P.D. James to be the protagonist of most of her stories (a series now done since she died in 2014).  After going through it in about a week, it's a story for sure. The story revolves around the death of a lawyer named Venetia Aldridge, who, after proving a murder suspect "not guilty," suddenly is murdered exactly four weeks, four hours, and fifty minutes later, which also begins to lead to a seemingly unending spiral of people being murdered. Now, her colleagues, daughter, and other random idiots in the story have to find out who killed her, though all the suspects seem to have perfect alibis.

Where is the clever title? Where are the paragraphs?

By Alyssa P.

The book i'm reviewing is "Heaven is for real" by Todd Burpo. He hasn't written any other books except that one about his son.  The book is about his son Colton who enjoys his life then gets sent into surgery Immediately. He dies in the process of his surgery and visits heaven and sees all the angels who talks to him and he finds his sister who died before she was born that he never knew about., Also  he sees "pops" his dad's dad. And when the surgery was over he tells his story to his dad and he's a church pastor and once he tells everyone, bunches of people go interview colton and no one believes him. This book is really good and the movie is also good and i'd recommend this book to anyone.

Inspiring…but not well followed

By: Dev Parekh

A big factor of global environmental movement in the 1960's was Rachel Carson. A marine biologist by career, Rachel was concerned about the the environment and what turns the government was taking to act upon it. Taking her feelings about this world, she authored her world famous book, Silent Spring.

Where is my creative and wonderful title? What is the title of this book?

Very injured James wakes up on a plane. He has no idea where his injuries came from, where he's going or why he's on the plane.

Why count by sevens?

By Janelle P.

The book that I am reviewing in Counting By Sevens by Holly Goldberg Sloan. Holly Sloan has written many other books, one of them is called short and another is called Just Call My Name. I would recommend this book for other people to read. I would recommend this book because it is a good book and when you first start reading the book it is a little weird, but the weirdness just goes throughout the whole book. The book is another one of those books that once you start reading it you can't put it down. My friend recommended this book to me, I saw her reading it and she told how good this book was. Her reading the book inspired me to read it. This book also makes you feel like you are right there with the people and doing whatever they do. This book is a fiction book, so if you like fiction this is a great fiction book to read.
