Maze R(eader)unner

By Brian B.

The novel Maze Runner recently became extremely popular when a movie with the same name based on the storyline was released. The book is written by James Dashner who also authored the sequels, Scorch Trials and The Death Cure, and a prequel, The Kill Order. The genre of these books is dystopian suspense.

Truthiness, Justice, and the American Way

By Jay C.
America's greatest satirist, Stephen Colbert, has a television career and a comedic reputation that greatly precedes him. However, unless you are a fan of his groundbreaking show, The Colbert Report, then you may not know that he is also an accomplished, NYT Bestselling author. I am America (And So Can You!) was Colbert's first book written by his infamous on-screen character who goes by the same name. The book, built around the character's pseudo-conservative personality, is chock-full of witty jokes, subtle jabs, and more laughs than what ought to be legal.

'City of Books'

By Shivani P.
I have recently read City Of Bones the final installment of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Clare has also written City of Heavenly Fire, City of Ashes,  City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels and City of Lost Souls.  Clary was just an average human, or so she thought. Her mother was overprotective of Clary for some reason. One night Clary with her best friend Simon were partying at Club Pandemonium when she sees two teenagers killing a person, no, a demon. No one else could see them but Clary and other shadow hunters. Not too long after, her mother gets kidnapped and its up to Clary to find her.

The northern and Southern rebels are moving in and are doing everything to try to delay The Selection. Luckily, America isn't afraid to fight for what she wants.

Lousy, Awkward and Lost

By Someone Who Did Not Include a Byline

I read the book 'Loud, Awake and Lost' by Adele Griffin. This book follows the life of the young Ember after she comes home from a rehabilitation center. While at this rehab, she was relearning how to be normal again. After a terrible car crash that left who she believes is a stranger, dead, she tries to pick up the pieces of her broken life and put together her memory. Ember fights every demon in an attempt to remember what she has forgotten.

The Fault In Our Stars

By Shelise R.

John Greene, a promising author of the top selling book, The Fault In Our Stars, is not your average love story. This book has an interesting twist rather than being a simple love story about a boy and a girl who fall in love and break up. This seems like an everyday average book that would only grab the attentions of others due to the popularity. I, however, read this book before the movie came out. I reread this book several times, and every time it gets better. This book is about 2 teenagers who are suffering from different types of cancers. They are trying to live an average everyday life, but struggle due to their disabilities.

The Write Way

The Perks of a Book Review

By Nathaly D.

About:
The main character, Charlie starts his first year of high school and is scared of what to conquer. When Charlie meets Sam and Patrick, they take him under their wing. Charlie then learns things he never knew before and experiences things for the first time as well. Through these experiences, Charlie finds out about himself and tells his story to a mysterious stranger who never writes back.

Review:
After my friend lent me the book to read, this book has became my favorite book that I had to buy it for myself. This is a book that I will always remember and quote at all times. Though I haven't seen the movie, I want too, But I feel like the movie won't match up to the book.

Recommendations:
This book is not a feel-good kinda book, so if you are looking for some unicorns and rainbows, happy-endings type of crap, this isn'ta book you want to read. Though if you want to read a book that'll make you think about life or want to make you start writing to a random stranger about your life, this is the book for you. All in all, you should read this book once in your life.

You can find it at school libraries, local libraries and book stores.

Bluebirds fly, Birds fly over the rainbow,
                                                        Why oh why, cant I?

The Sex Lives of Cannibals

By Angeleah A.

"There is no place on Earth where color has been rendered with such intense depth, from the first light of dawn illuminating a green coconut frond to the last ray of sunset, when the sky is reddened to biblical proportions. And the blue...have you seen just how blue blue can get in the equatorial Pacific? In comparison, Picasso's blue period seems decidedly ash-gray."

Into the Wild

By Angeleah A.

Live Deliberately. No fear. No compromise. These commands Chris McCandless took as gospel. He interpreted books by Thoreau and Jack London literally, and they summoned him to his slow death at age 24, alone in the wilderness of Alaska. "McCandless distrusted the value of things that came easily—he demanded much of himself—more in the end than he could deliver."

The "Other" Final Solution

By Ryan H.
In May 1960, a team of Israeli spies captured Adolf Eichmann, one of the most- wanted escaped Nazis following WWII. He was said to be the Architect of the Holocaust and the man behind the Nazi strategy and operational voice of the Final Solution to the Jewish Problem, Eichmann's capture, transportation to Israel, and ensuing trial represent a groundbreaking moment in Jewish history. In The Nazi Hunters, Neal Bascomb tells the thrilling story of the people who found and captured Eichmann, and how they were able to bring him to Israel to face justice. With the addition of photographs, maps, and images of secret documents and correspondence, Bascomb relates the harrowing discovery, capture, and retribution in a fast-paced, almost cinematic fashion.

The Merry Pranksters, and The Psychedelic Era

By Ryan H
In the late 1967's, America became aware of a growing movement of young people, based mainly out of California, but soon to be nation-wide, called the "psychedelic movement".  This movement relied on psychedelic drug use, music, and experiences to transcend reality and bring a higher state of consciousness to those who participated. Psychedelic drug use encouraged uniformity, the breaking down of boundaries, the theory that everything is one, the insight of political awareness, empathy with others, and the questioning of authority."The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" is the story of how this psychedelic movement began with one person, Ken Kesey, and the large following he adopted, the Merry Pranksters.

This is the only book Majors has published, but she also has also wrote some short stories which include Trip to Saigon, a short story about an art copier in Vietnam. This is not a Writing Manual is a memoir of Majors writing life, beginning all the way back in middle school. Inside the book are stories of the author about writing in real life. Obsessed

By Caitlyn B

Go Ask Alice was written by an anonymous 15 year old, in diary form. When I looked up the book, it said the author was Beatrice Sparks. But, I'm not sure how true that is.  I assume the narrator of the book is Alice. It started when she was served a soft drink laced with LSD in a party game. Within months, she was hooked. She ran away from her home and went on a journey that would rob her of her innocence, her youth, and her life. In the epilogue of her diary, it says that Alice died three weeks later from an overdose.

Lena Dunham brings forth a gloriously candid book of essays in the revolutionary novel "Not that Kind of Girl." Dunham illustrates what it means to be twenty something and coming to the realization that life doesn't uphold the promises you were once led to believe. By Jamie D.

"Homer's Odyssey" written by a cat owner named Gwen Cooper. Don't let the beginning fool you. It's not just about a crazy cat lady with no love life, in fact it's much more. It teaches you important life lessons.

Homer was an abandoned three-week old, blind kitten. Gwen Cooper already had two cats until one day her veterinarian called and told her about this kitten. She ended up with the abandoned, blind kitten. In this book it tells about Homer's adventures. One of those adventures being trapped in an apartment next to the World Trade Center after 9/11. Also you can read in this book the story of how this loyal blind cat kept his family safe from an unwanted intruder. Gwen learnt an important lesson from Homer: "Love isn't something you see with your eyes." -Gwen Cooper.
I recommend this book to anyone who needs a little bit of hope and faith. This novel will take you on an emotional roller coaster but it's definitely worth the ride.
