Dr.J, The Doctor of Basketball and Writing Books

By Larry L.

` Julius Erving, one of the greatest basketball players of all time wrote an amazing book where he described the greatest moments of his career, and his transition from the ABA to the NBA and if the competition got any better or if it was a good thing to do.  Julius Erving talked about the dark times when his brother died from cancer, but also he talked about the great moments when he won multiple ABA and NBA M.V.P. awards and also multiple NBA championships. Erving also has started a charity to raise money for cancer.

Dr.J: Above the Rim and Behind the Closed Doors is another great biography. He describes how winning an NBA championship feels and also how losing a sibling feels to cancer. He talks about the great battles he has had in the NBA with some of the greatest players of all time such as Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. He talked about his long battles with Larry Bird in the playoffs, and the fight he got into with him which he laughs about till this day.
Overall this is an amazing book, Julius Erving really gets into details  about his ABA & NBA career but also his personal life. It's sad yet It also makes you feel proud of how far he has come through all the tough times and many can relate to this book. Dr.J: Above the Rim and Behind the Closed Doors is a book that I would suggest to anyone who is a fan of Julius Erving, or basketball in general.
