In a world where discrimination and unfairness exists there are people that try to bring us together. One of these people is Nelson Mandela. Mary Benson Writes about his great life in Nelson Mandela: The Man and the Movement. This biography tells of Mandela's life from early childhood to 1985 when he was at an all time peak of changing South Africa forever. It shares how he gained respect and political power in encouraging equality and peace.
I liked how Mandela's life was thoroughly described along with the people, problems, and actions that arose around him. It kept me interested and was just like a nicely made documentary. Though there were lots of things that I did not understand that related to the government. The book also used some higher level vocabulary that gave more meaning to the text.
I think that everyone should read this book. Even if you do not understand something, you can research it and learn. I found it enlightening and I did not only learn more about Nelson Mandela, but more about the world and how it works.
