Neil Simon: Rewrites Review

Neil Simon: Rewrites Review
By Sam L.

Rewrites follows Neil Simon's, famous playwrights' well known for "Rumors" and "The Good Doctor", struggles through his early life and writing career. Simon recounts his experiences from his childhood to the death of his wife, including his rise from pennilessness, to becoming a renowned playwright.

This memoir is extremely touching and well written. It gives a real insight on the American Dream in progress, creating a life he loves from absolutely nothing. It is a truly inspiring memoir and helps aspiring playwrights know the difficulties the job entails. Simon recounts the problems that arose due to the separation of his parents and their constant fights. The last chapter of the memoir includes the death of his wife after a long fight against breast cancer.
I would certainly recommend this memoir to anyone who is a fan of Simon. It is worth the read to gain insight on his life. The beautiful writing get two thumbs up! You can get this memoir at any local bookstore, including Barnes and Noble.
