Well if you have read the Hobbit books or have seen the movies that will help. So like any movie book or anything its starts in a small little place Hobbitarian. Then in the hobbit bilbo finds a ring that then later turns into something he might regret. A couple years later Gandalf (a wizard from the Hobbit books) tells Frodo (Bilbos assistant witch then later got adopted by Bilbo) that the ring is something bigger than it appears, its one of the ring forged by Sauron (the dark lord, has been around for more than 1000 years).
frodo later then sets off to put the ring in the volcano to destroy it. he goes with, hobbits merry, sam, and pippin. There are these thing called black riders witch hunt the ring down to destroy middle-earth. They find frodo put he then passes out.
He then later wake up in the Elven city of Rivendell, where they get together and form a Fellowship. And who comes with him are Boromir, Aragorn, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Frodo and his friends Kin, Merry, Pippin, and Sam.
They then go off but they have to figure out where which way they are going to go, because there are different ways being watch. They have to go through a tricky right to get to Mordor but later Gandalf leaves them. Then they all part ways Frodo and sam are left going for it. While the others are fighting with them on their own fights to Mordor.
