Living With The Not So Allegiant

By Ashley B.

Imagine living in a world of people claiming to be allies, even though secretly they're all trying to get one another killed? That's the confusing and twisted story Veronica Roth has written in the final book of the Divergent series, Allegiant.

Tris thought she was a normal kid living in a city divided into factions. All was well until she discovered she was Divergent, which was a dangerous thing to be in this world. However she meets Four, a fellow Divergent, and they fall in love and develop a not-so sweet relationship throughout all the chaos of trying to pick through whom they can trust, and who they must kill.
They've already taken down the original government of the factions and now they are being run by the factionless, who are just as corrupt as Jeanine who ruled before them. But everywhere they go, there's a greater force trying to bring them down. Tris and Four (Also known as Tobias) must work together to bring down their oppressors (even if it means going behind each other's backs).
This book was packed with action on every page, enough to make your head spin. Although I love science, I found that this book incorporated a lot of biotechnology that was hard to follow. Also, there were so many different groups of people banded together, it was hard to keep track of who was who. There wasn't many calm, deep scenes between just two characters either. The book is action packed in every page, and your eyes will be glued just at the first chapter. Even though there was a lot of information, it all tied together very well overall. Although there were a lot of characters, they were all developed well and Roth really made you feel something for all of them. And the end, don't even get me started. The ending was so bittersweet, you'll have to read the series to fully understand. Good luck.
Interestingly enough, Veronica Roth sold movie rights to Divergent, the first book in the series, before she was even out of college! She's a new author obviously, and she has the other two books in the series, Divergent and Insurgent for sale wherever books are sold. The only other stories she has right now are also related to the Divergent series, and are a series of e-books focused on Tobias (Four) called Four: A Divergent Story Collection.
If you'd like a new obsession, the Divergent trilogy is a great choice. But make sure you're emotionally ready to handle it.
