Learning to Swear in America Review

By August R.

From the very first paragraph Katie Kennedy catches your attention. She introduces the main character a seventeen year old Russian with a doctorate in physics going to America to stop an asteroid. Since he's from Russia there's a slight language block but later on he gets more comfortable with people he meets. One of them a crazy driver which he asks how to swear in America.

Katie Kennedy is a very to the point writer and I liked that while reading this book. This book was also very humorous at times. There were moments where you would have to put down the book for a minute to laugh before you continue to read again. Moments like when Yuri didn't understand American sayings and he'd seem confused and frustrated at times.
The ending was also very realistic but also slightly unexpected. The description was very detailed and the dialogue seemed very realistic. Everything that happened made me believe that it could have actually happened in real life.
