Percy Jackson the lightening thief

By: Kayla B

This story is a mythological based book about Percy Jackson, a 12 year old boy who lives with his single (mortal) mother. In the book Percy learns more about his father and his special abilities in becoming a demigod with special abilities.

The story starts out at Percy's school field trip. There he starts to realize that weird things are going on around him. So he forgets about those upcomings and goes on vacation with his mother. Soon enough on the trip his life becomes threatened. That's when his mom knew it was time to send Percy off to a special camp where he would be safer.
This camp wasn't just like a regular summer camp, the kids at the camp were just like him and had special abilities, abilities that they had taken on from there other immortal parents. Those parents were the Greek Gods. At the camp Percy would discover who he was and what his special abilities as a demigod were. Around the same time he found out that he was related to Poseidon the God of seas and that he has similar abilities to him.
Later on at camp Percy was informed that Poseidon (his father) had been in trouble and was about to start war with Zeus and Hades, other greek gods. Percy decides that he should help his father and two other friends out on a quest to keep the war from happening. During the quest Percy and the two friends experience a lot of crazy dangerous powerful people. Together they encountered a lot and learned much on the way. If you want to find out what happens in the end pick up the book and get reading.
If you enjoy action, mystery, and mythological books this is perfect for you. The beginning was slow but once you got to the bigger parts of the story it picked up really quick. The author kept you drawn into the story as it felt like I was actually seeing all the action. I liked how every chapter was different and exciting and I didn't know what was about to happen. It kept me paying attention and hooked me.
I can say that I have watched the movie and I love movies way more than books but this book was really fun to read and there was a lot going on. There was never one moment where I was bored. I would recommend this to all readers out there.
