Max the main character a geek and a good person, he would never steal or dude illegal or bad things or so you thought. One day he digging for fossils and make a pit into hell and out of that pit comes out a demon. This demon is not your typical demon he is a demon who eats a lot of junk food, watches too much tv and plays video games. This demon's name is Burgundy Cluttermuck and he refuses to leave the basement of Max's mom's house. Even though this demon seems lazy he will kill everyone and everything Max cares about if he doesn't listen. So he makes a promise with the demon to cure his mom if Max finds a mansion with a hot tub in it. So he teams up with a girl named Lore who knows a couple of things that are evil to find a mansion. In the end, he will not quit on his mother and find a way to save her.
There were too many parts to the book Hellhole that I loved. The pace of the book was perfect and the details of the book were easy to comprehend. The book made you feel like having a demon as your friend can be a good thing. For example for Max's case Burb is helping him out by curing his mother of her heart disease. I also think this book is hilarious too, there are too many jokes and fails that happen in Hellhole. I believe the pressure of stealing small toy and getting caught on your first theft is hilarious, also it was his boss who caught Max for stealing.
In my opinion, I believe that any reader should read Hellhole because of its comedy and how well put out the book is. Also the bravery Max shows to find a way to cure his mother's heart disease. The book may seem a little dark in the beginning but there is a bright ending making the book a great adventure. You get to feel how it's like to have a demon who lives in your basement and bosses you around in Max's life. You will wish that there is another book coming and hope for more comedy.
