Twins Related to Fairy Tales?

By D.L. Buddhineni

Chris Colfer is a number one New York Times bestselling author and Golden Globe -winning actor. He has been acting for most of his life, and is best known as Kurt Hummel on the famous FOX television series ‘’Glee”. His books include the first six novels in the “Land of Stories’’ series. He has also written “Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal’’ which is a novelization based on the script he wrote for the film ‘’Struck By Lightning’’. This talented person also co - produced and starred in that movie. As you can see, Colfer has done a lot in his lifetime. But his writing career all started with ‘’The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell.’’ which is the first book in the “Land of Stories Series.’’

The story starts off with two normal twins who go by the name of Alex and Conner. Conner loves school and has made a lot of friends, but on the other hand there is Alex who is not really enjoying school. One day both of them are casually sitting at home staring at this mysterious story book that they are given as a present from their grandmother. The book suddenly starts glowing, and the twins are sucked into the pages of the mysterious book. They discover that the book holds a whole other world of fairytales that they set on to discover. However the twins are determined to get home, but do not know how to exactly do it. On their journey they encounter many mystical and abnormal creatures that they must pass. They also uncover another secret, that they are apparently related to some specific people in this world, and that the story of their mysterious father is finally uncovered.
Chris Colfer’s writing is certainly very descriptive and I deeply enjoy reading his pieces. So far I have read two more books in his ‘’Land of Stories Series” and they are very interesting. If you are interested in reading mysterious and adventurous books, this series a great series for you to start reading. His writing tells unique stories that are his own, and they are not like anybody else’s. I am looking forward to reading the next three books in his series, and am hoping that he will add to his series in the future.
