Wonder

By Aaliyah O.
Having a facial deformity is hard. Especially when your Auggie. A ten year old boy with a facial deformity that has made making new friends difficult for him. Auggie has been homeschooled since 5th grade. But all of a sudden his parents decide it's time for him to go to actual school. So they sign him up to go to Beecher Prep. A private middle school. The story tells about Auggie's journey in a school with new surroundings and people. Its interesting to read about because most of us are lucky enough to not have to go through getting looks and mean comments in our everyday life. But auggie has a good way of coping with it and it shows that in this book.

I enjoyed this book mostly because it's a good story and it shows how different people cope with different things. It has a good lesson in the book that most kids should know about. Another thing i liked about this book was at one point it switches views to Auggie’s older sister, Via. Not only does it show the view of the person with the deformity but the view of someone that is in his everyday life and always has been. Its cool to know how she feels and what she does when people give these dirty looks and comments to Auggie.
I recommend this book to anyone pretty much but mostly younger kids so that they know how to deal with these things since they don't have good common sense at a younger age. It's a good book for anyone though. Very life changing and an eye- opener. Most of us could be doing these things that people do to Auggie without even knowing it.
