This book review has a boring title

By Julia L.

Brandon Sanderson has a unique ability to creates worlds and characters in which the reader becomes completely immersed. This ability shows itself in his book, Words of Radiance, the second installment of The Stormlight Archive.

As it is a sequel, I do not want to go into too much detail. The series as a whole revolves around a few major characters: Dalinar, Shallan, and Kaladin. There are more characters that are involved heavily in the story, but to look at its bare bones, these are the main characters. Dalinar is the brother of recently assassinated King Gavilar. His might in battle is legendary, but lately he has been seeing visions from his religion’s God. Shallan is a woman who, to save her family from destruction, attempts to steal a precious treasure from the most intelligent woman in the country. Kaladin, a surgeon-turned-soldier, was wrongfully enslaved and is bent on revenge.
The books are long—each more than a thousand pages—but I found every part of the story to be incredible. Sanderson’s writing by itself is clever, sometimes beautiful, and always engrossing. I would recommend beginning with The Way of Kings, the first book in the series, for anybody who likes fantasy.
I am pleased with not only the quality of Sanderson’s books, but also the quantity. He has written the Mistborn trilogy, Elantris, Warbreaker, and a few other books. I look forward to what he writes next.
