'Little Brother,' Big Meaning

by Chris G.

In Little Brother by Cory Doctorow, 17-year-old Marcus Yallow is smart in the world of technology, so smart that he can hack in to his high school’s security system with no trouble at all. He does not have the best track record in school, however.  But one day, he is skipping school with his friends when they are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, the aftermath of a terrorist attack on San Francisco, and are taken captive by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where they are interrogated for days. When they are released, they find that the entire city of San Francisco has become a police state, where every citizen is treated like a terrorist by the DHS. The only way that Marcus can stop this madness is to take down the DHS himself. Can a teenage hacker take on a government gone out of control? Find out by reading Little Brother by Cory Doctorow.

Little Brother by Cory Doctorow was a great and suspenseful read. With so many actions happening throughout the book, it is hard to put it down. This book is also great because being a teenage adolescent, it is easy to relate to this book with all of the technology that we have today, making the reading easier to understand.

I would definitely suggest this book to someone looking for a good read. I would specifically recommend this book to people in their teenage years, as it is more modern day, ut in general probably ages 13 and up.
