The Girl in the Box

By Shannon F.

Oudia Sebestyen’s The Girl in the Box is a thrilling and extremely intense story. The not knowing what is going to happen next plot makes the beginning of the book very intriguing. The Girl in the Box is the type of book that will keep you on the edge of your chair until the end. The story line is sad and also very scary. To anyone who likes those type of books I would advise you to read this book.

Jackie is the narrator and also the main character in the story. Jackie writes the story on the only other thing accompanying her in the dark and dingy basement. She uses the typewriter to tell her story to her parents and the police. This makes the story interesting. If you like the type of books where the emotions tend to change every chapter this book is for you. I started out loving this book but the ending got me very frustrated. The book does not give much detail in the ending. I dislike it very much when authors just leave you hanging, you feel like there should be another part or a continuation of the first book. Ouida’s book was pretty much a great book until the ending.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes emotionally tugging plots. The Girl in the Box had a realistic dialogue. The book represents a horror the reasons I believe this is because of the scariness of Jackie’s story. Until the unfinished ending the story as very intriguing and to anyone who likes books with that type of plot and dialogue The Girl in the Box is the perfect book for you.
