In The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a mythical tale about hobbits, dwarfs, wizards, trolls, and a gold loving dragon. Tolkien not only wrote this book but created an entire universe of books that go along with this one. The books have prompted huge Hollywood movies with The Hobbit being the newest in the franchise. The movie how ever is the farthest thing from the book and takes huge liberties and creates new story. If you want to know the real story of Bilbo you can't trust Hollywood. You'll just have to read the book this time.
Bilbo Baggins is your average hobbit. He maintains a clean house and nice garden. He's boring and enjoys every minute of it. One day he gets a visit from Gandalf The Wizard. Gandalf offers Bilbo an adventure. Bilbo denies the opportunity. Later that night the adventure begins anyways when a group of dwarfs come and ruin Bilbo's peace. The dwarfs need Bilbo's help to travel to a far off mountain and steal from a dragon. Bilbo decides he needs some adventure in his life and sets off on journey of epic proportions.
Tolkien does a fantastic job of putting the reader into the story. The description is great and imaginative. The world created for the reader is filled with mythical creatures and huge adventure. The book has great setting and the characters are well developed throughout the story. One thing that I can say though is the book starts off a little slow. This is a book that has taken me a few times of dropping it and picking it back up a again. After finally sitting down again and reading it through in one sitting i'm satisfied with the book for sure. I'd recommend the book to anybody that's down to put the effort in to reading it. Two hobbit sized thumbs up.
