4th of July Madness

by Johnson T.

4th of July is a a suspenseful crime fiction book written by James Patterson who has also written the Alex Cross Novels, including the #1 New York Times bestsellers The Big Bag Wolf, Four Blind Mice, Violets Are Blue, Kiss the Girls, and Along Came a Spider. Protagonist Lindsay Boxer once again has to solve a series of brutal murders, but this time, it's in the Half Moon Bay Area of San Francisco. Will she catch the killers before they strike again or will blood continued to be spilled?

When a boy is killed in his apartment and the words written on the back of the door are “No body Cares”, Lieutenant Boxer is determined to find out who had done this, as they were wrong about one thing; she did care. After drinking a couple of margaritas while being off duty with some friends, her partner, Jacobi, asked her to come with her on a lead they got with a car similar to the one at the crime scene. After turning on the siren and the chased car was not stopping, a crash took place and it happened to be some teenagers on drugs. They took out their guns opened fire against the lieutenant and her partner. In defense, Boxer shoots the girl right through the heart and the boy in a similar fashion, but not exactly. She and the San Francisco Police Department is now being sued by the parents for one-hundred-fifty-million dollars for police misconduct and for her being “intoxicated”. With the trial coming up that decides her fate, it's not the only thing that is bothering her. Some other recent murders have been committed the same way as Boxer's first and only cold case: John Doe #24. Will she be found guilty at the trial or discover if the murders are linked?
Patterson's writing is absolutely stunning like always. The descriptions are enough for you to imagine what's happening in the book right before your eyes. With nonstop action along with some drama, Patterson's writing will not disappoint.
This was the second book I've read by Patterson and I can tell you that he's my favorite author now. Even with his large fan base already, he just gained another follower for life. You should check out his prodigious writing too.
