    The help takes place in Mississippi in the 1960's. In 1960 there were few places that were as racist as the state as Mississippi. The help is about a young female writer who wants to be taken seriously as a novelist and doesn't like the way black maids are treated by their employers. The book covers both the serious nature of civil rights with humor and laugh out loud moments. It's a long book but it will keep you turning the pages and thoroughly entertained.
