A twisted love story

By Sydney K.

John Green, the author of Looking for Alaska which won him a New york times bestselling award.  The main character is Hazel Grace Lancaster , a cancer patient that is diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and problems with her lungs. Hazel goes to a support group where she meets Augustus Waters. Augustus Waters is a cute boy who also is dealing with life with cancer under his shadow. Bone cancer is what Augustus has which makes him weaker than others. This cancer is called Osteosarcoma.

Hazel was not your average 16 year old. Hazel was different but nonetheless beautiful which is what caught August's eye. The two become very close and start building a bond. The focus on the book becomes more of a tragic love story focusing more on the love and less about the cancer. Green's writing is intriguing. While reading this book I could not put it down. The ending did seem to cut quick because I expected more. I expected August to somehow make it and survive but he sadly gets too sick and stopped fighting.  This was the  first book by John Green I have ever read but I'm starting to look into reading his other novels. Overall John Green is an author I would recommend and the fault in our stars is a book i would recommend too.
