The novel The Boy In The Striped Pajamas is written by John Boyne. John Boyne is 44 years old he was born April 30,1971. The book was published January 5,2006. This novel  focuses on complex issues of evil and the holocaust. The novel is told by a nine year old boy named Bruno.

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas is about a young boy named Bruno. Bruno lived in Berlin for most of his life. His older sister Gretel, him, and his parents moved to Auschwitz, because his father had gotten a new job. Bruno didn't like the move because there was noone to talk to or play with. One day he came across a large fence. He met Lieutenant Kotler. Later that day he met a young boy, a jew named Shmuel. Shmuel was on the other side of the fence and him and Bruno became friends. Bruno didn't know was a jew was. They became best friends. For Bruno's birthday Lieutenant Kotler brought Shmuel over to polish glasses. Shmuel brought Bruno striped pajamas. Bruno snuck over and something happened. Bruno's family moved back to Berlin hoping his was there, but something happened. His father stayed to search for Bruno.
I would recommend this book but not to anyone that's under thirteen because they might not know about death or what the nazis did to the jew. Out of a one through ten i would give it a 8. But i would recommend it to anyone over 13 because it gives you a life lesson to not be judgemental or not be friends with someone all  because of race and color. I think it teaches us to be friends with whoever is going to be there till the end and not give up on you. That is shouldn't matter what you are because you may never know their stories or what goes on in there life maybe they just need and friend or someone they can talk to and vent to.
Here are some interesting quotes from the book:
  • "A story of Innocence in a world of Ignorance"
  • "Sitting around all day miserable won't make you any happier"
  • "We're not supposed to be friends you and me, were meant to be enemies. Did you know
that?"
