Far From Sour Grapes

By No Byline No Credit

Steven Goldman's Two Parties, One Tux, And a Very Short Film About the Grapes of Wrath is a story about a teenage boy named Mitchell in high school who is struggling to fit in. He has one friend, David, and to make things more out of the norm for Mitchell, David recently came out to him as gay. Out of nowhere the most popular girl in school wants Mitchell to be her prom date. The story details the hilariously awkward experiences Mitchell faces highlighting the night of prom.

Steven Goldman's ability to relate to the teenage high school experience is very impressive. The story really feels as if it is being told by a teenage boy. His witty voice gives the story a very comedic feel. Certain parts of the book are dry but for the most part it is a very funny and entertaining read.

I believe this book is a must read, especially if you find yourself stuck at home on a rainy day in the summer. It's funny and very entertaining and hard to put down.

This book can be found at the Nashua South library or most public libraries.
