The Fight Against Manic Depression

By Nicole N.

Danielle Steele's novel, "His Bright Light" will have you so intrigued you'll never want to put the book down until you finish reading. This book will cause tears, heartache, and a little bit of hope.

When starting to read "His Bright Light," I didn't know what I was getting myself into. This is a story of a brilliant boy with a beautiful heart but an abused soul and his fight against manic depression. Danielle Steele's purpose of writing this book was to share her son's story and his love along with pain. She wants to offer people hope and realities that others live through everyday. Steele wants her novel to teach people, make a difference, and maybe save a life. Nick Traina was Steele's son, and the light of her life. He lived a short life; by age 19, he committed suicide. This story will inform you of Steele's personal story of her fight to help her son, and guide him through his battle of darkness. She shares painful memories along with many of Nick's own journal entries.
From reading this tragic book, you will learn many different parts of depression and how some people just can't be fixed, no matter how hard you try. I definitely suggest this book to others, although it's a sensitive topic, it will fill you with hope and courage to help others.
