Perel's Perils

By Nathan B.

In Europa, Europa a Jewish boy is trapped in Nazi Germany. Him and his family had been living there for many years peacefully. When the Nazi Party came to power with Hitler in the lead, they ended up fleeing to Poland. Poland was captured by German soldiers a couple years after they had moved. The Perel family store was, like others, vandalized by the Nazi Party (World War II started by now). The Nazis soon had them moved into ghettos, a Jewish-only neighborhood surrounded by a wall. This was not the case for Solomon and his older brother. His mother told them to flee which they successfully accomplished. The Germans soon found them again when the crossed to attack the Russians side of the river.  His journeys in Germany started here. Some include the front-line, his squad, a "playful' medic, and the Hitler Youth. This book is an autobiography written by Solomon Perel.\

This biography was surprisingly good. It had a pretty good plot line for a real story with many twists and turns throughout. Since the book was set in the past, it had these good parts where it showed what he did in the future. In one of them, he visited his home leader after the war and told him he was Jewish. Sometimes, it seemed like he got too many breaks for this to be true and had really good luck.

This book should be read because it is a different aspect on Nazi Germany than just the concentration camps.
This book can be found at NHSS or the Nashua public library.
