Reviewing the Breakout Guide for Writing the Breakout Novel

By Brian B.

Donald Mass, a literacy agent interested in thrill and mystery, represents The Donald Maass Literacy Agency centered in New York City along with countless clients. The agency has promoted two New York Times best selling projects and multiple other notable novels. Aside from his time as a publishing agent, Donald Maass has also authored books intended to augment a writer's work. Writing the Breakout Novel is one of these particular pieces.

As someone with ample experience in the world of fiction writing, Maass knows what makes a novel stand out. Without guidance and careful instruction, a great story line will more than likely be engaging but not quite powerful enough to succeed on the marketplace. The "how-to manual" focuses not on specific instances, but on general tips that can be applied to all genres. Learning to make a plot more intricate and constantly suspenseful, developing characters that seem human, and broadening the possible viewing audience are all ideas that seem obvious at first, but loom to be much more crucial than first thought. Maass aims to lead writers of all sorts to maintain progress on these and many other points throughout the writing time, and he does.
This book is clearly not for someone who is looking for a good read. This book is targeted towards writers, from the young and aspiring looking for a light to follow to the seasoned yearning to spice up their stories. If you are one to take your writing careers seriously and wish to improve, definitely read Writing the Breakout Novel.
