Towns: Paper Thin and Paper Frail

By Jenna G.

The novel Paper Towns by John Green is a mysterious love story. Set in present-day Orlando, Florida, the realistic fiction novel was published in 2008. The author, Green, not only writes a modern love story between two teens but also uses his character, Margo, to analyze the deep aspects in life. The main character, Quentin, spends the book in a desperate search for her using only little clues she left behind.

Greene made millions from many of his other books, such as The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska. He has a small family and is also a historian.
I liked how easy it was to relate to the characters. They resemble today's teens in age and perspective. There are teens today in the same positions as Quentin, and from times of being harassed by the school bully to prom-night parties, any reader could find themselves reliving a point of their lives or preparing themselves for a part of it.
The novel was modern, yet had deep layers and a way of making you rethink much of life. John Green shaped his novel into a three-dimensional one with human-like characters and great depth. Also the book had layers and new discoveries hidden in every chapter, and had you analyzing life and how big the world really is.
The middle of the book can become dull and monotonous for some readers seeking action, and can require great deals of thinking that most minds cannot comprehend.  These parts, however, are crucial in understanding the novel, and one could become lost trying to understand the story.
Readers with slightly more matured minds will greatly enjoy this, though would be enjoyed by most types of people.
Now a published author with novels adapted into films, his books can be found in libraries and book store across the country.
