The Hitchhiker’s Guide to a Good Book

By Matt C

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a book written by Douglas Adams that would fall under the comedy genre. The book stars a man named Arthur Dent alongside his friend Ford Prefect. It begins with the dilemma of the city trying to rip down Arthur's house to make room for a new street, but this is the author using the tool of foreshadowing for a problem that is much bigger, when aliens come invade earth in attempt to destroy the planet to make room for their galactic highway.

I really enjoyed this book. The author has a fantastic sense of humor that clashes with mine very well. I found the book to be hilarious in spots but in a kind of dry humor kind of way. On the downside, the author tried too hard to make the plot complicated, which I think he did on purpose but kind of lost me at points.
Overall the book was very well written and simply hilarious. Anyone who has interest in books that hold dry comedic value should absolutely seek this book out and give it a read. The author has a fantastic way with the words that he uses and I find that impressive. If you go into this read with an open mind I guarantee you will have a good time reading it.
