Concentration Camp Terror

By Logan M

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne is a fictional story published in 2006. It is about two unlikely friends during WWII. Other books by John Boyne include A History of Loneliness, This House is Haunted, and The Dare. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is told from the perspective of nine year old Bruno the son of a concentration camp commander.

This book tells how friendship can bring the two unlikeliest of friends together. Bruno has to move away from his home in Berlin to a house near a concentration camp called Auschwitz. Bruno is very adventurous and escapes to the concentration camp one day. He befriended a Jewish boy at the camp named Shmuel and continues to visit him. Over time their friendship grows until one day when terror strikes. This book teaches you to tear down the barrier us as humans put up.
This book was my favorite book I have ever read and the plot was fantastic. This book will take on a never ending joyride and You can feel the emotion in the book. Also, the ending was great and left me feeling sad though. I also like the descriptive words used by Boyne. I could paint a mental picture of the scenes. There wasn't anything i didn't like.
Anyone who enjoys a good book will love this book. I definitely think everyone should read this book once in their life because you can feel the emotion of the book and it tells a few historical facts along the way.
You can buy this book at Barnes and Nobles and should be able to find it at your local library.
