Killer Clones

By Jenna G.

The novel Project Cain by Geoffrey Girard is a fast place thriller novel. Published In 2013, this story is narrated by a sixteen-year-old kid named Jeff. From a normal teen to a serial killer clone, Jeff must do everything he can to capture his fellows, but without becoming like his predecessor.

Girard has published some short fiction stories and many thriller and historical fiction novels. He was also nominated for the Bram Stoker Award in 2013.
I enjoyed the fresh taste of the book. With thousands of books within the same topic, some can become a dull read. He used interesting language that everyone of all ages could understand, and put a creative spin on his novel. From killer clones to evil FBI agents, it was a unique storyline and different from those before it.
There was also a straightforward style to the book. To understand the novel, you would need to know about much of the serial killers they were talking about. Lots of times there was horrible information that needed to get out, and Girard didn't make it light and sugarcoat it. It was straight out for the reader.
The language, though interesting, was not advanced enough to make it an interesting read. The descriptions and lack of depth made it a light action novel.  A good deal of the novel also consisted of a boring setting. There was not enough action to keep the reader engaged, and multiple opportunities to build suspense, but the chance was not taken.
The read could become dull and those lacking patience need not read the story, but those looking for an interesting topic but little action would greatly enjoy this.
A published author of many types of books, and a two-time award nominee, his writings can be found in bookstores and libraries across the country.
