This book review hath not a clever title

By Tia R.

The Outsiders is seen  as a coming of age novel written by S.E. Hinton. Hinton started the novel when she was just fifteen. The main character "pony boy" was a smart kid but he was defined a "greaser" because of where he grew up.

Ponyboy is a fourteen year old boy who just recently lost both of his parents in a car accident. His older brother Darry whose 20 now has custody of Ponyboy and his brother Sodapop whose 16. Any body that grew up on the east side of town are described as "dirty greasers" and their rival gang, the rich kids of the west side were called the "Socs".

S.E. Hinton writes (from what I've seen) truthful books. In today's society you get judged about where you come from , how much money you have and even your home life. Ponyboy and the other "greasers" take pride on where they come from and stick together like a huge family.

I think the Outsiders is the only book I read from this author but it's also the only book I can't read over and over again. I truly recommend this book to anybody who says they hate reading I can honestly say that most of you will fall in love with this novel.
