a Photo and Two Rings

By: Mitzy D

Eve Keller, a professor at Fordham University, and Millie Werber, a Holocaust survivor, wrote a book called "Two Rings: a story of love and war". This story is based on true events. It explains Millie's experience during the Holocaust.

Millie Werber is a Auschwitz survivor who was born in Radom, Poland. At age 14 she was living in the ghetto with eight family members in one single room with three beds. She went through tough times with her family until 1942 when she was separated from them to work at a factory. In that factory she met a Jewish police officer named Heniek who soon became her first love. They were married for several months until he was killed; a photograph of them and two rings was what was left of him.
This story was very interesting. It was very well written and very detailed about Millie's feelings about being alone. Although I personally do not like non-fiction books, I do suggest reading this if you do because it contains events and a lot of information of the Holocaust from a not well known person.
