Holes, was written by Louis Sachar. It is a book telling the journey that stanley yelnats the main character goes on. The story takes place mainly at the hot and humid Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention facility where there is no lake, and no happy campers. In place that a long time ago was "the largest lake in Texas" dried up lake It hasn't rained there for over a hundred years. Camp Green Lake was pocked identical holes dug by boys to improve their character, or at least that's the idea at Camp Green Lake. The story takes place in the present time but contains flashbacks of over one hundred years ago to explain how the whole plot started.
The three most important characters in this book are Stanley Yelnats a.k.a Caveman, Hector Zeroni a.k.a. Zero, and Linda Miller, the warden at Camp Green Lake.
Stanley Yelnats, an overweight teenage boy is the main character. He was falsely accused of stealing Clyde "Sweetfeet" Livingston shoes. So he goes to this camp and meets all these new people and has to dig these holes and they find out the dark secrets of camp green lake, i really suggest this book and think it's really good to read when your bored.
