This book review lacks a clever title

By Theodore R.

My third book for reading was Farnham's Freehold By Robert A. Heinlein. Most may know Heinlein for his work on Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land and plenty of short stories. Some of his books have been adapted into movies, most well known is the movie Starship Troopers.

Farnham's Freehold is about a man who is paranoid, or so he seems, of a nuclear war happening at any minute. He lives in an american suburb with several relatives, his wife, and kids who all doubt Hugh Farnham for his cautious behavior. One night everything seems ordinary when low and behold Hugh's red alert activates and the whole family head into his shelter that has been built for years for this very moment. Now they have to survive off each other in a shelter with barely enough essentials which isn't all that easy.

The book I guess is very intelligent and even at some parts very symbolic in some way. The trouble was i had no idea what was happening. The language and old school writing used in the book may have been the reason. The plot was kind of intermittently sluggish. The pacing of the book however was right on the spot of perfect.

I do recommend this book to people that love to read drama and historical fiction. I didn't exactly enjoy it because of the old english but it does shine as something smart and inventive.
