Natasha Preston is an author that is able to keep you reading unable to put the book down. Silence is a book that will keep  you in suspense from chapter to chapter. Why did oakley stop talking at the age of five?

Imagine a life where you never said anything at all. Not to friends, parents, or family. Oakley, a sixteen
year old girl hasn't talked in 11 years for a reason nobody is truly sure of. Bullied everyday during high school. With her friend Cole, the only person who treated her like a normal person, her friend that will go on adventures and be with her when a family friend reappears in her life and she then reveals a secret she has been holding in for 11 years.
Silence, isn't a book you will easily forget. It is a very nicely written book, with very good at getting you and you emotion into the book. Oakley and Cole are great characters they both lost and are going through things, however they are lost together they have each other the whole book. Natasha Preston wrote two follow up books/ stories of Silence. Broken Silence, I have recently started reading that book. There is also a short story that goes more into details about Oakley and Cole as adults. That short story is called Silent Night. I suggest you give these books a try I don't think you'll be let down.
