Will the Nazis be Defeated

By Logan M.

War Within These Walls by Aline Sax and Caryl Strzelecki, is a story about a boy named Misha and his family being trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto. The War Within These Walls is fiction and Aline Sax's most famous book. This book has won The National Jewish Book Award and won second place of the Sydney Taylor Book award.

The story is based in Poland in September 1939 during WW2. Misha is a young boy who lives with his two parents and younger sister. Misha and his family are pushed around and starved by the Natzis just like every other family in the Warsaw Ghetto. He starts escaping the ghetto to obtain food because his parents are on the brink of death from starvation. One day Misha meets a young man named Mordecai Anielewicz. Mordecai is the leader of a secret underground group trying to rebel against the Nazis. Mordecai takes Misha under his wing and teaches him the ins and outs of the rebel group. The underground rebels were willing to die honorably with weapons in their hands than like cowards. Misha and the rebels waited for the Germans to enter the ghetto. You won't believe what happened next.
I liked the the plot of this book. Everything made sense to me and the details were impeccable, but the one thing that bothered me about this book was the pace. It was to fast paced and I seemed to finish it too quickly. Lastly, I liked that this book is based on true stories about brave Jews who rebelled against the Nazis.
I think people should buy The War Within These Wall because it is historically based and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster.  When you read this book you may feel sad in some parts and inspired in others. This book tells true stories of WW2 and will show you how people were really treated. If you don't like history you may not want this book, but if you are looking for a book that makes you feel every emotion, you should buy this book.
The War Within These Walls can be purchased online from Amazon.com or from Barnes and Nobles.com.
