A Solo Journey of a Lifetime

By Alexi D.

Going Solo by Roald Dahl is a biography on his life. This book tells us all about Dahl's crazy and very unique adventures. These adventures range from ship rides to being in World War two. He meets some very strange and amazing people that change his view on many different things. This shaped the way he wrote and to be the great writer he was.

This book is under the genre of an autobiography. Roald Dahl is also the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and James and the Giant Peach which all became movies. He also wrote many other books like Twits, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Witches. All of Dahl's books are very well know and amazing, as he is one of the world's best-loved writers.
I thought this book was very unique and unlike any other I have ever read. In this book he really brought us on the journey with him, and included many minor, but helpful, events that occurred that made it that much more interesting. I felt like I could really keep up with the story as it got into major events, and it was not hard to keep up with. For example Dahl went from many big events he talked about for a while to many small frequent events, but made it easy to follow what was happening. This story also talks about many different, crazy adventures which keeps the reader entertained at all times.
I would definitely recommend this books to people of all ages. This book can be appealing for any type of reader because it has so many different elements to the story. It has adventure, true stories, action, humor and so much more. This book can inspire many people along with just letting them read and take a mental journey.
You can find this book in almost any book store due to its popularity and widespread audience.
