The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, tells the heart wrenching true story of a dysfunctional family's financial and emotional hardships. Jeannette Walls tells, from her perspective, about her brilliantly minded yet corrupt father and her absent minded mother who referred to herself as an "excitement addict. She tells of the extreme poverty that they endured and their time as living as nomads. Instead of not speaking highly of her parents, she puts aside their flaws, manipulation, betrayals and describes them with generosity and sincere affection. The Glass Castle will pull you in with every turn of the page and make you feel as if you are experiencing every moment with the characters. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading of emotional hardships and the fiery determination of those who are struggling to escape them.
