Read the book review of vanishing girls quickly before it vanishes from your email!

By Lauren Belair

Lauren Belair- Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver is about two sisters named Dara and Nick who were best friends for the longest time. They used to be inseparable,  but then there was a car crash that scarred Dara's face.  This left Dara with severe anger and avoidance of her sister Nick.  A short time after the crash, Dara disappears on her birthday, and another girl named Madeline also disappears. Initially it might have seemed coincidental, but both disappearances end up being related.  In the book, Nick may not have always made the right decisions, but was always loyal to her sister. She would not stop in her pursuit of finding her.  While on the hunt for her sister, Nick finds hidden notes and pictures that were never meant to be seen by her.

This book gives off a valuable message about what happens when you try to hold on to negative emotions and act as if everything is fine.  Oliver also demonstrates how complicated family relationships can be. This book is a mystery as well as a psychological thriller that leaves the reader never wanting to put it down.  While reading the book, I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough.  The author uses lots of detail when describing events and keeps things moving at a fast pace so that the reader is always kept interested.  Lauren's background stories are well developed in such a way that the reader would never anticipate the end result.  The plot twist was extremely intriguing, and will leave the readers haunted.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to be kept in suspense.  People should read this book because it not only tells a heartfelt story about a family that gets broken up, but it also teaches that you don't always appreciate what you have until it's gone.  Readers will enjoy every moment of the story because of the nonstop action throughout.

Readers can find this book online, in their local bookstore, or in their school library.
