Author David Klass is an acclaimed screenwriter and the author of many popular YA novels, He said that he wrote this novel because when he was nineteen he had been a chess player but he then gave up and only returned to it thirty years later when his two children started to play in tournaments. The character Daniel Pratzer is a freshmen and is on the chess team at his school. Daniel and his chess team have a weekend-long tournament in the big apple New York. But the tournament is not just  any one on one chess game, it's a father and son chess tournament.But Daniel told his teammates that his father can't play chess. But they just told him whatever gibberish his dad was. But Daniel doesn't know much about his Dad.But as a teen Morris was a "Grandmaster" at chess. And since after he quit he came back to face another competitor of his.

But in the end will everything go good or will "winning the game make Daniel lose everything ?'"Even though Daniel doesn't know the secrets of his dad but will that mean he might lose his father, or will Morris lose Daniel?

I think this book is a great novel to read because this is a book about mystery, while you read this you will then see a little trail that you are following finding the answer and solving along the way. But in the end you will then end up with your answer to this mystery. Just like being an investigator. But I think Readers will enjoy this book very much.
