Anotha classic by John Steinbeck

By: Rosaura R.

Let me start off by saying that this story is confusing at first but it all started to make sense. It has to do with two men, ones pretty much normal whose name is George and the other, who is Lennie has a mental disability. Both men have a dream of having a little piece of land and farming on it. Lennie since he's such a big, strong person, he grabs a mouse and starts to play with it.Then George comes and reveals that Lennie has killed the mouse. George always tells Lennie to protect himself instead of protecting others.  Lennie has a very big heart and personality but no one seems to understand how he is except George. George decides that he's better off without Lennie because he is just to much to handle. Always doing something wrong which should be expected from a person who has a mental disability.

Steinbeck succeeds because the characters he paints in your head are exact and it's truly amazing how exact it is. It's a sad story and it really puts the reader to think and ask themselves what's going to happen next. An author that makes you wonder, c'mon how much better can it get?
