Quite an Electric Book

By Jasmine S.

Some friendships aren't what you expected. In Leah Thomas's book, Because You'll Never Meet Me, one extraordinarily strange friendship is shown from one side of the country to the other.

This book is shown in a series of letters between two boys Ollie and Moritz. Ollie is allergic to electricity and will seize if he is in contact. On the other hand and the other side of the country, we have Moritz, a young boy with a pacemaker for his heart. After writing letters back and forth, the two boys have realized they will never meet because one of them would end up dying. Both being hermits, they are socially awkward and end up resorting to the letters throughout tough times.
Leah Thomas's creativity and details implied into each letter, provides a clear voice in the characters. Throughout the whole novel, readers are intrigued and filled with hope. Because You'll Never Meet Me, shows that having hope in a friendship is everything. Ollie and Moritz are best friends who are always there for each other; in times of bullying and loss of friendships. All is good until Moritz reveals the secret he knew all along, behind their past and what connects them. I love interesting books and right from the start, I was hooked. If you're interested in stories of hope, humor and life lessons, Because You'll Never Meet Me, by Leah Thomas is a book for you.
