Olivia Trader's Book Review (This should have had a better title)

By Olivia T.

The first book I got to read for my Creative Writing Class was awesome! Reading the novel Shrink Rap, made you feel like you were in the eyes of the main character herself, Sunny Randall. The story was very well plotted as well as being a definite page turner. The book revealed no giveaways as to what would happen next which I loved. I enjoy being able to predict what's going to happen and then being thrown off. Each action made and words that were said, all fell so perfectly together. I wasn't confused at all for the duration of the novel; I would most definitely read it for a second time.

The characters' personality types interrelated with the Plot very well. The novel is in the eyes of Sunny Randall who is the one telling the story. Sunny is a detective who was assigned to this women/author named Melanie Joan; who she is protecting from her crazy, pathological, Ex-husband who later stalks Melanie throughout her own book tour throughout the United States. The crazy events that took place along with the organization of the scenes, (even the important ones) enhanced the Plot itself and made the story worth reading again and again! You really got to understand and even relate to Sunny on various personal levels. It was nice to get to know the character all while envisioning her kick some ass!

Overall, the novel inside and out was awesome. Might not look like it from the outside and by the width of it but, every page stuck with me and it's much more than a quick glance. Robert B. Parker really knows how to write things without having to say too much. You either figure it out through the actions made by the characters or in between words said. If you like books that you're more than likely to relate to either now or later down the road, I'd recommend it. Especially if you're into crime and investigating. There wasn't one thing I'd change about this novel!
