305 Pages of Paper Talking About Metaphorical Paper

By Ashley M.
Paper Towns, by John Green is a book about two old childhood friends who rejoice for one crazy night. John Green is most famously known for his book the Fault in Our Stars, but he has written other books including Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, and Let it Snow. Quentin Jacobsen and Margo Roth Spiegelman grew up next door from each other, but as the years went by they found themselves growing apart. Quentin has always been secretly in love with Margo so when she randomly appears in his window in the middle of the night and asks him to help her with a secret plot, he accepts.

Margo has a long list of people she wishes to get revenge on and she wants Quenting to help her do it. Throughout the book, you follow Quentin and Margo through their spontaneous nighttime adventure while Margo shaves off her ex's eyebrow, puts a stinky fish in her arch enemy's car, and many more clever plots. Finally, they return home, and Quentin can't stop thinking about how amazing that night was. He can't wait to get to school to see Margo, but when the time comes, she's nowhere to be found. Nobody has any clue where she is and nobody knows when she will return.
Quentin begins to find little clues giving him an idea of where Margo went starting with a poster hanging on her window. He believes Margo left the clues for him. With help from his friends, Quentin follows the clues hoping he will one day find the girl he loves.
John Green wrote another New York Times bestseller with Paper Towns. I loved this book. It was a great mix of humor, mystery, and drama. The book keeps you guessing with the twists and turns of the plot as you go on the search for Margo along with Quentin. The ending is a bit abrupt which made me a little angry, but the way the rest of the book is written makes up for it. I never found myself getting bored while reading. This was one of those books that kept me up at night hoping that the story never ends.
John Green is one of my favorite authors and this book did not let me down. I would recommend this book to any young adult who's looking for an interesting storyline. I'm excited to read more of Green's books.
