Do Not Keep This Book in Your Memory, Lauren R

By Lauren R.

"The Memory Keeper's Daughter" is a fictional story told by Kim Edwards. It's a tale about a sticky situation in a doctor's life. The situation is taken on by the doctor's nurse.

On a stormy night, Norah Henry goes into labor with her first child. The roads are covered with snow and the doctors offices are closed at this hour. Dr. David Henry is an orthopedic surgeon who delivers his wife's baby in his own clinic. After hours of labor, she has her first baby. She gives birth to a healthy baby boy. The three of them, including nurse Caroline Gill, come to find out that Norah is having twins. When the second child emerges, David can tell something is wrong. The baby has a disorder that will complicate all of their lives. David lies to his wife and tells Caroline to send the child away. Nurse Caroline takes matters into her own hands and changes the young girl's future.
This story moved very slowly and took was unexciting. The story also took place in 1964 which means the dialect isn't modern. I didn't find anything exceptional about the characters in this book either. There were few main characters and they lived boring lives. My favorite part in  this book was when the babies are born because it's the climax and the most exciting part.
I do not suggest this book because it is very dull and slow-moving. Since I didn't enjoy this book, I won't try any other books by Kim Edwards because I believe they have the same style. This book was not for me.
