Maybe not so much of a perfect life.

By Lolita C.

Writer and Pediatric ER doctor, Cj Lyons keeps you wanting more and more, a Thriller With Heart. Lyons novel, Broken, is a story about a girl named Scarlet Killian, who was diagnosed with a rare and untreatable heart condition.

Scarlet is getting the chance of a lifetime to be a normal teenage girl. After a bunch of years battling a heart condition she is also battling her toughest situation, being a high school student. Scarlets stepmom is devoting her life to her, trying to keep her alive with everything she's got. Her dad loves her very much but is always busy with work. For Scarlet there's no more home-schooling, no more medicine, no more hospitals and no more feeling like a freak.
I liked how the author made the story come to life with emotions and real life situations because if she didn't make it seem so real then the book wouldn't have came to life. The part that I didn't really like was when she put cliffhangers because when something starts getting good you don't want it to stop you want the story to continue. I also do not like the end for the same reason because although it says what she chooses, it doesn't tell us what happens to her as a person, if she was bullied, if she died young, or anything and it's also rushed like she wanted to just finish the book and get over with it.
This is a great book overall though, if anyone would be looking for a thriller or a book that makes you sit on the edge of your chair wanting more, then definitely read this book!

Readers can find this book in the fiction section at their school or public library.
