6 Months Later..a terrible story was created

By Delaney C.

While reading my first book for my creative writing class I came to the conclusion I really should've picked a better book. 6 Months Later By Natalie D. Richards is a book that comes with mystery and confusion. The story was interesting, but the way it was explained could've been written better by a 15 year old girl. While reading the book, I was intrigued by the mystery of a girl waking up not knowing what happened 6 months ago. But the realism in this book was nowhere to be found. The authors knowledge of high school, SAT scores, and college applications were very different from the real world. I wish this book was more connected to the real world.

For characters and the plot. Ugh! The main character, Chloe, is the typical girl out of a book. Stubborn, in love, and just… basic. There was no shape to her or no molding. She was just very stiff. The plot was dragged. Like I mean dragged as much as it could be. Just when you thought it'd be solved.. Nope. I get the mystery, but when it was so dragged on and there was no great outcome to each little piece solved. The author had the main character have only two sources to figure out her mystery, and the sources didn't give off any information.. Only bits and pieces. The story started off strongly but ended out hitting the fan near the end. The dialogue gave most of the story, because most of the story was from the two sources Chloe used to figure everything out. The way the author simulated the story through dialogue made it boring and not very personal. The main character didn't have many thoughts besides if she was going to kiss the really hot guy or not.
In conclusion, the story 6 Months Later was a terrible mystery that dragged on till the author couldn't think of anything else to say. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you really like one on one dialogue that tells the whole story, and people with high anxiety that can't deal with open ended suspense.
