Hailed as the queens of fantasy in 2009- Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl hit huge success with their great selling series, Beautiful Creatures. Both authors delve deep into the world of fantasy and take you on a journey like no other. Lena Duchannes tears apart her world searching for her place in it.

Nothing ever happens in Gatlin, a small town in the heart of South Carolina. That is until Ethan's dreams come to life and the mysterious girl he saw there shows up at his school. He doesn't know what, but something is off about her. Ethan is pulled into the whirlwind that is Lena's life and soon discovers a whole new world of casters. Witch-like creatures that chose how to turn when they are 16. Light or dark. Lena does not want to chose, but everyone must.
At the worst possible time, Lena's mother comes back, queen of the dark casters. A split divides her family, half light and the other half dark and there is still one catch. Whichever side she choses, all members of the other will die. Do mothers always know best?
Garcia and Margaret's writing is breathtaking in the way they make you feel as if you are a part of it. They portray the inner turmoil of an unearthly creature so well you can feel her pain and cry the same tears she is. The authors develop the characters so well that you feel as if they are a part of you and when the books end, your heart aches with the loss of your dear friends.
This is the first series I've ever read by either author and I am thoroughly impressed. There are many other books in this series to keep you busy for a while. You should definitely check these girls out.
